The Chemistry Camp Workshop staff, made up of UTSA Chemistry Professors and Tutoring Services Certified Chemistry Tutors, will undergo and intensive five day training that includes material on Adult Learning Theory, Social Media training, Assessment and Session Planning. Training will begin after the Spring semester ends on May 23, 2016.

Day One
|
Adult Education Theory - Learners will receive the basics of adult learning theory, discuss the impact on learning by using adult learning strategies in the classroom as well as understand the difference between traditional and non-traditional learning models.

Day Two
|
Social Media Training - Social Media reaches learners where they are. This training will identify ways that facilitators can integrate learning opportunities into social media. Learners will also discover the benefits of social and collaborative learning and identify ways to use social learning in the planning of their workshop sessions.

Day Three

Assessment - Learners will be introduced to formative and summative assessments, understand the need to use assessments in their planning processes and be able to utilize data collected from assessments to make adjustments to to their planning and workshop delivery.

Day Four
|
Session Planning - Professors and Tutors will use this time to integrate adult learning theory, social learning and assessments into their session plans. They will utilize the resources provided and the training facilitators if needed.

Day Five
|
Review and Assess - The final day will be used to finish up program planning, review any material that learners are having trouble grasping and take a final assessment.
