Training Plan
UTSA-TS has worked diligently over the past several years to help student learners become lifelong, independent learners. They accomplish this task by partnering with several departments across campus to provide programming to help students be successful is traditionally low performing courses or preparing students to place into a higher level course.
Following a Needs Analysis completed by Program Director Debra Garza, Cynthia McCowen, Director of Tutoring Services and the Hector Aguilar, Dean of the Chemistry Department developed a proposal that seeks to create a program to offer a three day Chemistry Placement Test Preparation Workshop. This workshop will create a partnership between the Chemistry Department, Testing Services, and Tutoring Services that will prepare students to test out of Basic Chemistry and be placed into General Chemistry I with a success rate of at least 70%.
This plan includes the Needs Analysis that was conducted, a Staffing and Budgeting Plan, a plan for integrating social media into the training for program staff, and a detailed list of auxiliary partnerships that will be created as a result of the Test Preparation Workshop.
Interested Chemistry Professors have already been selected to to participate in the program. Tutoring Services has identified a number of tutors who meet the criteria to assist with the program.
